      Thinking of purchasing a used vehicle? Most people start looking to buy a new vehicle and the main decision is which year, make and model to choose. There are numerous questions that need to be answered. Financial questions… Can we afford it? Does it fit into our monthly budget?  How much for insurance? Then people start thinking, does the vehicle fit my driving habits? Will the vehicle be the correct size for the family? After all the questions have been answered and you finally pick out a vehicle you like,  your next major questions may be… Is the car in good shape? Does it have any problems? Has it been wrecked? Or is it a “Lemon”?

Most people today first jump online to review vehicle history with online resource like, Car Fax. www.carfax.com The internet based companies are a great resource when researching a vehicle for purchase.

            I recommend that when purchasing a vehicle from the dealership ask them to provide you with a Car fax report. If they don’t offer that service get out of there. Most of the dealers I work with offer this report and the ones that don’t always makes me wonder, “What they are trying to hide?”

            Your next step should be to take it to your local auto technician. Here at Becks Auto Center we have provided this service for years. We thoroughly look at all aspects of the vehicle before you purchase it. Our technicians will perform a pre-purchase inspection that checks all operations inside and out of the vehicle. He/she will inspect tires, brakes, steering/suspension, fluid samples, maintenance due, ect…You will then be given a detailed list of everything that we have found and prices if needed to repair the items that we found.

            So before you purchase your next used vehicle, do your homework. Make sure the vehicle is financially going to fit your budget, that the vehicle it going to suit the needs of your every day driving, make sure you receive a car fax report and finally have the vehicle inspected at your local auto repair facility.
